Horned Lark
Eremophila alpestris
46.3404, -95.6919
Field Notes
Description:
What I believe to be an adult, male Horned Lark
Habitat:
On or near gravel roads that bisect farmland or pastureland all over Otter Tail County in Minnesota
Notes:
This was the first day this winter I'd seen the Horned Larks although I'd heard they were the first to return, typically in February. I was told they typically "nest" where they're seen this time of year so, I'm hoping to get more and better images of them in the coming weeks and months. Horned Larks and Meadowlarks hold a deep fascination for me mainly because of their amazing singing ability but their pretty attractive birds as well.
