Field Notes

Description:

32-35cm Large bowerbird with grey head and breast without streaking os spotting. Lilac-pink crest only visible when displaying.

Habitat:

Fairly common in dry sclerophyll woodland, thickets of limebush,figs,vines,bauhinias near watercourses in northern Australia.From about Anna Plains ( south of Broome) to Mackay Qld.

Notes:

We were camped in Lawn Hill National Park and these fellows were very cheeky. They drank from a tap nearby and tried to pinch our lunch if left unattended.

The bird life is exceptional. That's just the beginning. All nature is wonderful in Lawn Hill. It's a fair drive to get out there but more than worth it. We would love to go back. Thanks Leuba.
So many of them - wonderful ! We are "trying" to get up to Lawn Hill - one day soon,perhaps. Heard it's a lovely place. Nice pics Kerry !
