Field Notes

Description:

Large sparrow with dark stripes over the eyes with yellow on the crown. The color will deepen as the bird matures. Light brown color on the undersides, and dark streaks from back of neck and back. Wings are patterned with light and dark brown and thin white bars. Tail is long.

Habitat:

Near forests, shrubs, in chaparral and along paths.
