Field Notes

Description:

An edible fungi that grows on decaying wood.
The 1st picture is new growth.
The 2nd picture is of middle aged growth.
The 3rd picture is of older growth and
The last picture is of the stump they have taken over along with some Turkey Tail fungi (Trametes) & Ganoderma Sessile fungi

Habitat:

You can find these fungi in eastern North America, Columbia, Peru, Brazil, Mexico and south eastern China.
They love a warm, humid climate.
In this instance they are growing on a decaying oak tree stump.

Notes:

Found in College Park, Florida, USA which is a town in an older part of Orlando that still has brick streets and hundred plus year old oak trees lining some of the streets.
