Field Notes

Description:

This grey moth had thin black wavy lines on all four wings. Antennae were feathery suggesting that this is a male moth. wingspan approximately 15mm.

Habitat:

Seen near a state forest

Notes:

Thanks to martinl for the ID. This geometrid moth belongs to subfamily Larentiinae - probably lost some of its scales.

I wish Martin ! Thanks for the ID. I've seen so many of these grey and brown waves this summer but there is always something a little different in each of them. More confusing because of damage and scale-loss, I suppose.
This is LARENTIINAE and looks like Chrysolarentia (Waves), but the species is not apparent from my literature. http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/lare/severata.html. Maybe you get naming rights?
