Field Notes

Description:

Living up to its alternate name of Hedge Sparrow, based on historical times when it was thought to be a Sparrow which spent its life hiding in hedges. The Warbler type bill gives away its true identity. Here, using a trick of light and shadows, it looks in the first picture more like a Blackcap but the body pattern gives away its true identity.

Habitat:

Hedgerow in agricultural land
