Field Notes

Description:

Family: Nymphalidae. Frittillary Butterflies. Up to 3 inches wingspan. Orange with tiger-ish markings and white spots. Females tend to be darker and this one was light, so probably male.

Habitat:

So glad I just found this photo! I was visiting a friend and when I left this beautiful butterfly was in her garden. And 5 minutes later 1/4 mile down the road I found another. On milkweed.
