why did I ever doubt the Oracle! It is indeed a Cotton Stainer Nymph:)

Looks like a Cotton Stainer nymph (Dysdercus nigrofasciatus)
It looks an awful lot like a firebug nymph (Pyrrhocoris apterus), but it's not supposed to be found that far south. In any event, this might be a good starting point for narrowing it down. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firebug
