Description:

It is a large paper wasp that has red and black coloration like a red wasp.The wasp has a very painful sting that lasts about 5 hours.This one was just resting and I got some good shots.

Habitat:

Backyard, Semi-urban environment

Notes:

Probably a queen due to the huge size.
