Field Notes

Description:

It is relatively small hoverfly about 9 -12 mm long . Upper side of abdomen is patterned with orange and black bands. Secondary black bands on the 3rd and 4th dorsal plates are present . Faint grayish longitudinal stripes on thorax . Males are differentiated from females by presence of holotypic eyes (left and right sides of compound eyes touches the head)
