Description:
This plant was about 2 meters high and grew in water. Its stem was thick, hard, long, and green. The thread-like stems were thin and a shade of green, looking like a feather duster, and sticking out from the top in all directions. Where all the thread-like stems met, it was brown colored.
Habitat:
These Papyrus plants were growing in Singapore Botanic Gardens. The climate there was cool and wet since it recently rained. The Papyrus were growing in an area near water, and also can get sufficient amounts of sunlight.
Notes:
Papyrus has a long history with humans, especially the ancient Egyptians, who used it as paper, and some parts of it were used to make boats. It is a tall, robust, and leafless plant that grows in water (aquatic).
