Field Notes

Description:

This timid heron hides well in the mottled light. It has a rufous back and white belly. As I crept closer it suddenly disappeared.

Habitat:

Throughout parts of Asia and common along waterways.

Notes:

AKA Nankeen heron is a medium sized heron

Thanks Shanna. The fishing Darter appeared under this branch (overhanging the lake) when the heron disappeared and I thought they were the same bird at first.
