Description:

large female hairy brown spider 70 or 80mm

Habitat:

On a gum tree

Notes:

this one is eating some kind of gum leaf bug or a stink bug. They are so common in this small area that every tree seems to have many. That indicates a much higher population of prey to feed them than expected. According to Revision of the Genus Isopeda Koch (Heteropodidae : Araneae) in Australia I. vasta is not known in the area. David Hirst identifies Isopeda vasta groups of species and this appears to be one such
