Field Notes

Description:

Bobcats have a gray to brown coat, whiskered face, and black-tufted ears, the bobcat resembles the other species of the mid-sized Lynx genus. It has a stubby tail from which it gets its name.

Habitat:

Spotted this bobcat in a field just off the road. Teh field is in a pine forest.

Notes:

We had a real treat watching this bobcat hunt in the field. We watched for about ten min. A car coming from the opposite direction stopped for pictures as well and the cat got spooked. There was a forest fire further up into the mountains and I have wondered if that was why it had come down into the foothills area.
