A medium size leaf beetle perfectly matching the color of its leafy habitat.

Habitat:

Desert species on mallee gum.

Notes:

First sighting.

Thanks Mark and lori. I knew this beetle was in the big desert to be found. We went for the big jewel beetle of course, since it is seldom on the wing but the chrysomelinae are hard to pass by. I first saw the similar paropsis rufitarsis from Queensland and this more robust southern one is even better. It is recognized most easily by the light scutellum.
