Field Notes

Description:

Shoulders of this adult hawk are dark and the rest is white with brick-red bars on breast. Can't tell of this is a male or female.

Habitat:

Mixed deciduous forests, meadows and suburban areas. This one was spotted soaring over the gravel lot where I normally see Red Tailed Hawks.

Notes:

Thought he/she was a dove at first, until I took out the camera and zoomed in. He/she soared over me several times, giving me the opportunity to get a couple pictures at optical range.
