Field Notes

Description:

Small bird with heavy "barring"on plumage.

Habitat:

Forest. It flew in, across the path on which our jeep was and sat on this branch a little too much inside the bushes than we would have liked. Initially it did not notice us (one eye towards us...then it turned its head...one and a half eyes...and finally a full frontal GLARE!)

Thanks, Irene Brady; I love the wildlife in your neighbourhood.
This looks so much like the pygmy owl we have here in Belize and at my old home the US...so nice to see!
