Field Notes

Description:

This orb-weaving spider was found in Northern Singapore. Its web was only about a foot above the ground; it was suspended between two rotting logs. The spider is about 1 1/2 inches long. It has dirty yellowish brown legs with black tips that appear to be hairy. Its thorax is also yellow, with black stripes running down it lengthwise.

Habitat:

This was found during a mostly dry part of the year.
This was found in a secondary rainforest on a sunny day in Singapore. It was given partial shade by medium-size trees above it.
About 20 meters away there was a gigantic Nephila Pilipes, which may explain the presence of this specimen.

Notes:

I'm unsure as to weather this is a male or female. My best guess is that it's a male due to its size.
