Description:

Short plant (about 10-12 in. tall) with yellow flowers (about 1-1.5 inches in diameter). 5 petals, grew in groups and in or between other plants.

Habitat:

Tecolote Canyon trail near USD, San Diego, CA.

Notes:

Partner: friend A.A.

Species ID Suggestions

African wood-sorrel

Oxalis pes-caprae

I don't know this plant to species level, but I definitely agree with the genus Oxalis of the ID suggestion. Remember that leaves can be as valuable as flowers for identification, so a close-up and description of the leaves would be great. Please describe the habitat, too; not everyone knows what Tecolote Canyon looks or feels like!
