Field Notes

Description:

Cap ca. 2.5 – 3 inches diameter. Grayish-brown; dry; leathery.
Pores ‘stuffed’; pores not visible.
Stem ca. 2.5 – 3 inches tall; 2-3 inches thick; enlarged at base; white; prominently reticulated.

Habitat:

Single bolete growing in mixed hardwood/pine forest near a lake

Notes:

Boletus atkinsonii is a member of the Boletus edulis species group. Pores of this species are stuffed when young.
