Field Notes
Description:
Swarms of crustations in the near surface 50m of the coast, At first they were thought to be a kelp bed until closer inspection.Together these creatures made long wavey chains up to about 5-8 long. They could descend as a group quite rapidly as needed when threatened by the boat. From the above water I first thought they might be squid because of the double appendage like appearance. Scooping a few them out revealed that they are more something of a shrimp. 2-3cm in length. Translucent with orange hues.
