Field Notes

Description:

about 35mm long, mottled silver-grey and brown. the forelegs were broad and fitted neatly under the thorax

Habitat:

sub tropical bushveld. Attracted to lights

Notes:

the cryptic colouring didn't hide the mantid too well on the wall and brick work under the light.

How many species? Just one mentioned? website http://mantodea.speciesfile.org/Common/basic/Taxa.aspx?TaxonNameID=1185382 Sorry, I do not know what it is.
this species is mentioned in our local insect ID book, but it doesn't claim to be that comprehensive. Any suggestions for my other small bark mantid spotting www.projectnoah.org/spottings/19307227
