Field Notes

Description:

A Bald Eagle eating a Snow Goose carcass off of a frozen pond. I saw the Snow Goose wandering around the ice yesterday, and by sun-down last night unfortunately it had died. This morning I looked out the window to see this Bald Eagle doing nature's clean up work. The second image shows the Eagle flying away due to a flock of crows approaching.

Habitat:

Frozen pond.

Notes:

Hopefully the Snow Goose didn't succumb to lead poisoning - many birds of prey acquire lead poisoning by eating contaminated waterfowl.
