Field Notes

Description:

Moth with distinctive creamy mark on forewing. Wingspan is 3.3 - 4.5 cm. Family Notodontidae (Prominent Moths).

Habitat:

Deciduous forests and adjacent areas. Flight period is usually March through October. Larva feed on oaks. This one was photographed at a porch light in Edgefield County, SC.
