Field Notes
Description:
Erebidae, Arctiinae, Arctiini, Phaegopterina, Gorgonidia buckleyi.
Wildsumaco Lodge, 1450 m asl, Provincia de Napo, Ecuador
Habitat:
Neotropical rainforest. Altitudes from 500 m to 2000 m asl. There are several other species, which sometimes only differ in details, but in general the genus is unmistakable for it colors and markings.
Notes:
Attracted to blacklight on the empty terrace of the Wildsumaco Lodge. The light I got from an old friend from facebook (Jim McClarin, a coleopterist) which I invited together with Andreas Kay to the lodge. So we had the whole lodge for us! Nothing more to add that I usually had an 18 h day with hunting bugs all the day and night... Hiring the best bird guy (Byron) I converted him to a butterfly and bug guy and a real mothman!
