Field Notes

Description:

The high-pitched calls of Cicadas make them easier heard than often seen. Came across this amazing phenomenon of an adult cicada emerging from its nymph shell on one of the night hikes in to the forest. Emerging during the night also helps them to avoid predators.

Habitat:

Evergreen forests of Agumbe in the Western Ghats of India.

Notes:

This is one lucky spotting for me, for being there at the right time at the right place with the right gears to witness and capture this in the wild.
