This shrike is a resident in tropical Africa, south of the Sahara and north of the equator, except in Horn of Africa. Usually it is a gregarious and cooperative breeder, and often seen in groups in savanna and dry grasslands. Here, observed in residential urban gardens in central Abuja, not far away from wooded areas of Jabi lake.
