Field Notes

Description:

Yellow weevils in conjugal union. The male, one which is riding, is smaller - about 12.00mm - is more hairy and has bigger head. Female body length is about 15.00mm.

Habitat:

Found on this tree, whose leaves it had eaten earlier. The surrounding area is quite bushy. Warm to hot place.

Notes:

While our children were busy dirt-biking in the Phuket Jungle, I and my wife went around for some local bio-spottings. The area was dry and warm to hot, no good for insects, nevertheless persisted and looked under and over leaves, branches, trunks and bushes! It was quite a surprise when I spotted this gentle couple blissfully unaware how many thousands of km we'd come to witness their ultimate happiness!
