Field Notes

Habitat:

They cruise open areas including mixed farmland, forest, and rangeland. They are particularly noticeable along roadsides and at landfills. At night, they roost in trees, on rocks, and other high secluded spots.

Notes:

I visit Everglades National Park often. Normally (particularly at Anhinga Trail) you see large groups of Black Vultures throughout including soaring during the day. I've only seen a handful of individual turkey vultures in past visits. Today was the total opposite. I only saw Turkey vultures everywhere, including a large group of 50 plus individuals at the Pay-hay-okee outlook (pictured here). I only saw 1 soaring black vulture today.
