Description:

we found a plant that had purple flowers when we were hiking.

Habitat:

Ohio- John Bryan State Park

Notes:

We could only observe one day, but we saw about 20 honey bees, 2-3 bumble bees, 1 sweat bee (pictured here, we think), and 1 ant on a patch of these flowers, so we think they are good for pollinators, but we don't know what they are.

There are many flowers in that Subfamily Hydrophylloideae native to this region. If you get a chance to hike this weekend, keep an eye out for similar looking flowers and investigate whether they are good plants for pollinators too!
