Earthworm I found crawling in my garden, above ground at night

Habitat:

Around some carrots in a vegetable garden. Suburban yard

We see so many of these (they come to the surface when it rains too hard) that I tend to forget that there are species of them. Looked it up and some species can grow to almost 10 feet long! (that would be scary!) I'd never thought of taxonomy of them and hope someone can come up with their proper name.
