The small seed is attached to this feather-like structure. I don't know what species it belongs to, but the beauty and elegance of this seed is like nothing I've seen before!!!

Very interesting! Did you happen to notice if there were a lot of these around? All the same? Wind borne seeds are usually flat (like this one http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/176976016/fullscreen) so that they can blow around with their membrane easier. Did you see the seed pod?
