Field Notes

Description:

Distinctive black lateral line.

Habitat:

Fenholloway River near the mouth

Notes:

The range of this snook has been said to correspond to the range of the Red Mangrove. See my spotting of the Red Mangrove. Shortly after I took the picture of the mangrove pictures started appearing in the news paper of people catching snook locally. Then I found these dead snook apparently killed by the cold water. Many species enter the rivers to escape cold water in the winter. Obviously it still got too cold for Snook which have never been found this far north till recently.
