Field Notes

Description:

Ventral view of second-year male (an immature in its second calendar year, but only about 8-9 months old), on its wintering grounds, perched on a pine branch. Age determined by light colored feathering on throat (not completely black), and by tapered shape to the rectrices (tail feathers).

Habitat:

Pine forest.

Notes:

Altitude near 1200 meters above sea level.
