Feral domestic cats
Felis silvestris catus
25.8485, -80.1191
Field Notes
Habitat:
Urban and suburban settings. This particular colony is in Miami Beach between the hotels and the beach dunes.
Notes:
There seems to be a colony of feral "beach" cats in this area. None of the ones I encountered were approachable. Most were grey or grey and white. I did see a Siamese among them which acted feral as well. The photos are of a few individuals of the colony taken the same afternoon. I wasn't sure I would post them as I didn't know if they would go under pet or mammals and because they are not all one individual. However I decided to post it this way because I noticed a small mystery that doesn't seem to be the result of random fighting. Many of the cats I saw were missing the tip of the left ear. Thoughts?
