Field Notes

Description:

The flowers of this plant are about the size of my fist. There are 3 red and smooth petals per flower. Each petal is about 9cm long. There are many strange-shaped light green stamens in the middle of the flower. The leaves of the plant are waxy, leathery, and smooth. The shape of them are skinny elliptical. The length of the leaf is 56cm at the longest point, and the width of the leaf is 13.5cm at the widest point. The leaf margines are entire, the venation is netted pinnate, and the arrangement is alternate. The texture of the pink bark is smooth and slippery. The plant is waist to shoulder height.

Habitat:

Found in a sunny area of the secondary rainforest located in Singapore American School.
