Field Notes

Description:

Looks like an aloe, agave or succulent. It is green with sharp spines along it's "leaves." There is a red/purple sharp tip at the top of the "leaf."

Habitat:

Dry soil, but the plant stores water in its various structures (leaves/stems). Tecolote Canyon is located in San Diego, CA, and it is a small canyon filled with diverse organisms. From trees, to snakes, native and (non-native) vegetation, plants, flowers and other animals, it is a nice area for people to take a walk/run and look/learn about an ecosystem. This plant was actually found in Tecolote Memorial Garden (located above the canyon).
