Field Notes

Description:

I see tons of Downy Woodpeckers, but rarely any Hairy Woodpeckers. This one was pecking at what I think was a maple

Habitat:

Forested swamp in a suburban neighborhood.

Notes:

Downy Woodpeckers, Red-bellied woodpeckers, Eastern Bluebirds, Blue Jays, Cardinals, Tufted Titmice, and Black-Capped Chickadees all frequently visit this swamp. I have also seen Ruby-crowned Kinglets, Pileated Woodpeckers, and other birds. It seems like a very good habitat for them.
