Field Notes

Habitat:

These ones were on a fence backing onto woodland. One panel had the dead ones in the second image. The other panel the live one. I am assuming they are the same breed and that makes them communal. The time of year is correct for this species to be found this way

Notes:

I think is more likely Euproctis melanosoma but am going with the other

I think you're spot-on with your ID, Stephen. Euproctis melanosoma has massive 'eye brows' (front and rear, I guess) - http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/401616016
