It was actually a slight distraction from the huge excitement of seeing several spindasis butterflies roosting in the area. They were thehighligt of the day by far.
Also there is... International Spider Survey http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/6... Joining missions can help with the ID's as people (or specialists) interested in specific categories often look through the various missions and can ID things they see there. Alternatively, you can look through yourself and see if you can see something similar. Check out the Missions tab at the top of the page...
I will try that. I have not got into any of that type of thing before and did nt even know it existed.
Les, you might like to add your photos to the mission Biodiversity of the Western Ghats... http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/10573372
Wonderful. That looks just like it. I had not expected a specific ID and certainly not so quickly!
Nice one Les. Here's mine and the ID I was given... http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/1922846002 Also this one on Wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyrtarachne
I see why Machi thinks it has similarities to the spider uploaded by Dominik. It does look a bit like the face of a larger insect with the eyes showing.
Definitely a spider. It probably just has its other legs folded underneath its body. It looks similar in shape to this one: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/24643275 though I don't think it is the same species.
The legs did not look very spider-like to me but I have little knowledge of such creatures.
Sure looks like a spider to me. A really interesting one though. Some araneid maybe.?
