Field Notes

Description:

Northern Flicker this is an immature example the mother was near by the nest. There were two in the nest about 9ft above ground in an aspen tree. Usually these are quite shy but being immature wanted to see what was going on outside his tree home.

Habitat:

Much of North America in both deciduous and coniferous forests. Usually nests in dead standing or hollow trees.
