Field Notes

Description:

A wasp mimic (not sure which species, perhaps potter wasps) of around 2.5cm frome head to the tip of the abdomen. Base colour is bright orange with a black pattern that is meant to resemble the abdomen and 'waist' of a wasp. Its movement also resembles that of a wasp, making it an excellent mimic.

Habitat:

Found in farmland area interspersed with patches of rainforest in the Atherton Tablelands, in Butcher's Creek.
