Field Notes

Description:

Sandhills are large gray w/ the red forefront and black beak.

Habitat:

Breeds in marshes but then disperses to open fields, pastures, and arable lands.

Notes:

This family was created approx. 5 days ago when it was estimated the colts were born. The nest was first observed 19 Feb 2013. Nest in middle of pond in open pasture on a County nature preserve. There was a nest last year at this pond.
