Description:

For scale, the stamens of the flower are about 1cm in length

family: lycaeninae

Habitat:

Park, shrubbery, no cycads nearby

Notes:

Possibly Chilades pandava pandava,
Or euchrysops cnejus cnejus

Tail not distinct so hard to identify

Thanks very much, Keith and duttagupta. I guess with the tail missing it may be tricky to narrow down the exact species...
I based my suggestion on the idea that the tails had been damaged. C. pandava is in range and, but for the lack of tails, seems like a good match. There are, however, many similar butterflies in this subfamily, so it could be something else.
Hi Olivia Chee, this one has been photographed with a flower slightly in front of it so maybe that was hiding the 'tail'.
Hi Keith, thanks for the suggestion. however, shouldn't the chilades pandava have a white tipped tail at the back of its hind wings? This one does not.
