Field Notes

Spotted redshanks are busy birds as they search for food. While wading through the water, they prick wildly at small crustaceans, water beetles or small frogs. In the summer, spotted redshanks are easy to recognize by their black plumage. In the winter, they are much lighter and look a lot like 'common' redshanks.
Habitat:
Spotted in Kalochori lagoon.
Notes:
Greek common name: Μαυρότρυγγας.
