Field Notes

Description:

The single flower of a vertical stem growing on the edge of a rainforest cliff. Leaves grow radially from the stem and have parallel venation.

Habitat:

Tropical rainforest with very high annual rainfall. Native to Australia.

Notes:

It was raining when I took these photos. You can see the raindrops frozen in time, in the background (first photo).

Species ID Suggestions

I think it may be in the Costus genus

Thanks for your suggestion, AndreaLim! It looks like it is a Costus sp., but there are many different species. Maybe someone more experienced than us can clarify which one!
