Field Notes

Description:

This ant is unidentified. It is a dark brown color with lighter brown stripes near the back of its body, and is around 1 inch long. It was found on the edge of cement, on the path of the Singapore American School forest floor. It was all by itself when caught, and once captured this ant was very panicked, but when let go, it didn't run away, just stayed on the cement.

Habitat:

Singapore American School Rainforest

Try checking the field guide of common garden insects! I think you will find this ant!
You can add details about color, about antennae, and other structures. With ants, too, their behavior, being alone or in large groups, may determine the species.
