Field Notes

Description:

A small brownish estrildid finch, with brown back and wings, whitish below and striped on flanks. Darker brown head, neck and nape, with bi-colored seed-eater bill. When feeding, moves in large groups - on Photo N°3, I observed this flock for over an hour, moving from tall grasses on banks of river Congo every time they were disturbed u to these branches...

Habitat:

Common in savannahs and grasslands and forest edges in all sub-Saharan Africa. Here observed on many occasions anywhere in Kinshasa - fro gardens and parks to banks of river Congo.

Notes:

And with this spotting, I believe I cleared my Congo archives... at least in bird department.
