Field Notes

Description:

This fungus beetle is about 1.5 cm long and 1.2 cm wide. It is black in color and has four yellow-orange spots on it's back. There are antennas and six claw like legs to grasp. The fungus beetle were usually grouped in a pair.

Habitat:

This fungus beetle was found on a bracket fungi in a secondary tropical rain forest in Singapore. The fungi was 1.2 feet off the ground and there was little shade given by taller trees.

Notes:

Whenever I visited the rain forest, the fungus beetle would always be on the bracket fungi and I never saw them leave the fungi.
