Field Notes

Description:

Off-white to light yellow with darker, brownish scales. 15-22mm cap diameter; the only accessible stem had 1-2mm diameter. Growing within a 2 m circle, one on a rotting root, three in leaf litter.

Habitat:

Suburban neighborhood on tropical upland plateau.

Notes:

Spotted at the base of a koa (Acacia koa) tree. The first two images are of the individual growing from the root. This individual had a 16mm diameter cap. The third image is of individuals 2 and 3, cap diameters 15 and 22mm respectively. The fourth image is of the fourth individual, cap diameter 16mm. Only the first image was taken using flash.
